Privacy Policy
The short version: TabBoard is built with a privacy-first philosophy. Your data stays on your device. We do not have servers that store your browsing history or tab information.
1. Information We Collect
TabBoard is a local-first extension. To provide the visual storyboard functionality, the extension accesses the following data from your current browser session:
- Tab Metadata: Page titles, URLs, and favicons.
- Visual Information: Open Graph (OG) images and meta descriptions from the websites you visit.
- Project Data: Names and collections of tabs you explicitly choose to save as a "Project."
2. How Your Data is Used
All data processing happens locally within your browser. We use this information solely to:
- Generate visual preview cards in your side panel.
- Enable drag-and-drop reordering of your browser tabs.
- Save and reload collections of tabs at your request.
3. Data Storage
We do not use external databases. Any projects you save are stored locally using your browser's internal storage (Storage API). If you uninstall the extension, this data is automatically removed by the browser.
4. Third-Party Services
TabBoard does not sell, trade, or transfer your information to outside parties. We do not include any tracking pixels or third-party analytics scripts within the extension.
When fetching visual previews (OG images), your browser makes a standard request to the website in question, similar to how it loads images when you visit the site directly.
5. Permissions
The extension requires specific permissions to function:
- Tabs: To read the titles and URLs for your storyboard.
- Side Panel: To provide the dedicated workspace UI.
- Storage: To save your projects locally.
